José Pedro Loureiro
José Pedro Loureiro obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Aveiro, Portugal, and earned his Master’s degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Coimbra, Portugal. During his undergraduate studies, he focused on the crosstalk between human invariant Natural Killer T (iNKT) cells and different macrophage subsets. He pursued his PhD in Molecular Biology, specializing in Immunology, at the University of Basel. His research focused on “Unconventional T cells” with a particular interest in antigen repertoire and mechanisms of antigen presentation responsible for activating MR1-restricted T cells and TCR γδ cells.
Currently, Pedro is a postdoctoral researcher at the Pröbstel Lab at the University Hospital Basel. In his work, he investigates the role of T cells in the context of Multiple Sclerosis and Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease.
